Jie YUAN, the Gold Medal of 8th Crescendo International Music Award, the Gold Medal of 2009 Seattle International Piano Competition, the Gold Medal of Bechstein International Piano Competition, the Silver Medal of 4th Shanghai International Piano Competition, the Gold Medal of 11th Asian International Piano Open Competition, the Gold Medal of 2002 All-China National Competition, the Silver Medal of Midland U.S. National Piano Competition, top pirze winners of Gina Bachauer, Jose Iturbi, Hamamatsu and Shenzhen Concerto International Competitions. 23-year old Jie YUAN has already recorded three compact disc with China GuangZhou Record Company.
 
Born in ChangChun, JiLin Province on December 8, 1985. Jie has studied the piano from ago of five, with Prof. YongZe YANG, the chairperson of composition department of JiLin College of Arts. After his first public performance at age of six, playing a short welcome recital to King Sihanouk, the King of Cambodia, Jie became to study with Prof. JinLi ZHOU, the professor of piano department of JiLin College of Arts. With her guide, Jie has won 1st prizes in JiLin Province Piano Competition twice in 1993 and 1994. At age of ten, Jie immigrated to GuangDong Province with his family, and started to study with Prof. Xiao LI, the dean of piano department of XingHai Conservatory of Music in GuangZhou. He became one of the most popular rising stars in China – winning the Gold Medals of National Chinese Works Piano Competition and National Piano Competition. At age of 15, three years after Jie entered the High Middle School Attached to XingHai Conservatory of Music, he gave a recital of Chopin All 24 etudes. In 2004, he auditioned at Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, resulted as 1st places in both preliminary and final round, and receiving a full scholarship to enter the school. Currently Jie is studying in the U.S, and among his teachers, includes Dr. Tamas Ungar, the executive director of Van Cliburn Piano Institute, Dr.Yoheved Kaplinsky, the dean of piano department of Juilliard School of Music.
In the past music seasons, Jie was invited to played recitals in China, Japan, United States, Canada, Mexico, Colombia, Italy, France, Singapore and Malaysia, include the Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Phillips Collection in Washington, D.C. Benaroya Hall in Seattle, Performing Arts Center in Tulsa, Bass Performance Hall in Fort Worth, Salle Cortot Hall in Paris, Act City Hall in Japan, Popayan Royal Center in Colombia, Esplanade concert hall in Singapore. Jie has played with the Tulsa Symphony Orchestra, New River Valley Symphony Orchestra, Madison Symphony Orchestra, Minot Symphony Orchestra, The Baroque Orchestra, Orchestre des Champs-Élysées, Orchestre philharmonique de Nice, Real Orquesta Sinfónica de Sevilla, Shenzhen Philharmonic Orchestra, Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra, Tsianjian Sinfonietta and Qingdao Symphony Orchestra. His performance and recording also appeared in radio and television programs frequently, includes Paris Radio 3, China CCTV, Hong Kong Radio, Xiamen TV, GZTV and many others.
In 08–09 season, Jie will be invited to tour in France, Italy, Korea, China, Ireland, Spain, Morocco and United States, include concert with Hangzhou Symphony Orchestra, Tianjin Symphony Orchestra, Real Philharmonia de Galicia, Niedersächsisches Staatsorchester, Orchestre symphonique de Mulhouse and Colombia National Symphony Orchestra. While working on his bachelor of Music Degree and Artist Diploma in the U.S, he is the youngest hired Guest Artist-in-resident at JiLin College of Arts and North China University in China; he is also the artist advisor of the ChangChun International Piano Festival.
